Google Nexus S official Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean OTA Update Release

It’s the Galaxy Nexus was the first to receive the Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean OTA update, now followed by the Nexus S. Presumably other Android phones from Samsung, HTC and others will also be getting the update soon. Google used its official Nexus Google+ and Twitter account to confirm this.

Yesterday, certain Google Nexus S users were treated with the Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean update. It wasn’t officially announced by Google, but users did report an OTA update for Nexus S in certain countries. Google has now officially announced that the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update is rolling out to all Nexus S users worldwide. The Nexus S is the predecessor to the Galaxy Nexus, Google’s latest flagship Android device. This is Google’s latest mobile operating system and has a lot of new features, including Google Now, a smoother UI and much more.

We’ve started rolling out Android 4.1, Jelly Bean, to Nexus S phones on a number of carriers including T-Mobile, H3G, O2, Rogers as well as Vodafone in most countries, with more to come. Enjoy!

Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean for the Google Nexus S is an OTA update and weighs in about 114MB. You’ll have to be on the stock IMM76MD ROM to be able to update to the latest version without any problems. If you haven’t received the notification yet, head over to Settings > About Phone > Update to check.
