Restore back T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S3 SGH-T999 back to original ICS 4.0.4 T999UVALH2 stock firmware

If you want to install or revert back the original ICS 4.0.4 T999UVALH2 stock firmware of your T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S3 SGH-T999 after installing any leaked android 4.1.1Jelly Bean here’s the guide.

Maybe some of you has been complaining about some issues encountered after installing the leak version 4.1.1 Jellybean recently. Some  issues like bugs, lags and quite a few hiccups where it would vibrate, then freeze, is so normal for leaked version are just leaked version, meaning -  its not official released by Samsung, so expect undesired outcomes. Its a beta released or under lab test and used by advance users, just to get a sneak peak of what’s new and how the next update may look like. Then,  if we found that this particular leaked ROM was unstable we just simply revert back to original Stock firmware that was officially provided by Samsung.

So, if you already decided to return back to the official T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S3 SGH-T999 here’s the step by step guide. And once and for all, to avoid any future issues, DO NOT install any leaked ROM if you’re not truly understand of where and what it is used for.  Just stay on original stock firmware and then only upgrade to the official releases.

In addition, please don’t blame to that person in forum exposing the leaked, because its been very useful for us (advance users) and mostly for devs to come up with a more awesome custom ROM.

Update: (Warning!) This procedure should not be used if your device already updated to official 4.3, the 4.3 update has a secured bootloader.  You cannot downgrade back to the old firmware for it might result into soft-bricks. This post was meant only for those who are running a leaked 4.1.1 firmware before. This post is way too old and has been posted before the official 4.1.1, 4.1.2 and 4.3 update came around.

    1. No, I don’t think so., it may work since both are the same but it might result to any undesired outcomes since each build has its own unique carrier specific default firmware settings. There must be an update from current version T999VVLALE6 soon.

  1. You saved my ass. I flashed Hellfire Jellybean ROM and it worked like crap. I wanted to go back to stock and this worked. However, I had to flash it twice and make sure to clear my cache before it would boot.

  2. Thank you so much for this. I installed a rom for my phone and it would not and install. the back up I did wouldn’t install at all. xda had a tar file I flash in odin to bring it back to stock. didn’t work. This tar file had a longer name to it. But omg I was up for hours and hours trying to look for help. again thank brother.

    1. Its only a PC to computer connection issues, happens oftentimes if you are new in flashing.. check everything. USB cable, PC port, close any running programs anti-virus, kies etc.

  3. Ended up bricking my phone and a nandroid wouldn’t work.
This was the final solution… And it worked!
I love you so much right now! Thank you!

    1. We can’t help you until you can elaborate everything how exactly it happens, since this is just about restoring to official stock guide?

  4. But to gt-19300?

    I update my s3 gt-19300 to Jelly bean 4.1.1
and is all rigth, but now I want to downgrade to
    the originally version
    4.0.4 (Ice Scream Sandwich)
    How Can I do that?

    1. You have GT-I9300, but you are asking this question on SGH-T999. Simply Google your previous build or send me your device country/provider info. Only then I can help you.

  5. I upgraded to 4.1.1 (Uvdli3) now I cannot go back to 4.0.4, I tried everything but it keeps freezing during the boot itself, I turn it on and only see a blinking led and the Samsung written in the middle of a black screen… Please guys, help me with it, I am very worried about having bricked my phone.. I appreciate your cooperation, rgds.

  6. Kinda new to custom roms so this be a dumb question but…. if I reinstall the stock firmware on my galaxy III can I then receive the official ota updates from t-mobile??? …currently running frosty jb and I like it but its just a little too buggy for me (blue flashes, vibrate/freezing/rebooting, battery consumption) so I want to know if I should revert back to stock or begin the shuffling of custom roms?

  7. Thank you very much DroidAngel. I screwed up my new replacement phone and forgot to update it to JB when I went to root it. Ended up bricking it so this guide saved me!

  8. I had tried to root but when I use root checker it says no root access. When I go into download mode it does show custom rom. Will your process still reset my phone back to original ics 4.0.4 and will it reset the flash counter?

    1. This process does not include resetting binary flash counter. Simply Google it, you problem will be resolve.

  9. When I’d got my Galaxy S3, it had Cyanogen mod, which really sucked((( beacuse of over 9000 bugs. But when I’ve restored original firmware ICS, my smartfone have got second life!!! It’s now a device that really do its job!!! Thanks, man!!! Everyone, who has sgh-t999 t-moblie, don’t worry, this operation will go smoothly!

    1. You need to press VOLUME UP, HOME, and POWER all at the same time to get into recovery. Once it vibrates, release the POWER button.
