Install/Upgrade Bell,Rogers,Telus Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 LTE I957 Official ICS Update

Three Canadian giant mobile network operators Bell, Rogers and Telus are now releasing its Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich ‘ICS’ for Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 LTE SGH-I957M, SGH-I957R and SGH-I957D. The firmware was already been built last month, and this update just rolled out this week. What? OMG!. Well, a delay like this is not new to me, since normally Bell, Rogers and Telus support team might done some test on it first just to ensure that this will be going out to be fine and free of any issues before it pushes to all of their Galaxy Tab 8.9 owners. Speaking of a delay, this promised ICS update came quite a long time from previous 3.2 Honeycomb build last year. This was supposed to be scheduled around end of July, then came August, September..  nothing? and at-last! appears on October.

AT&T U.S version of Galaxy Tab 8.9 SGH-I957, no signs of any official ICS so far. It appears that Canada is now ahead of time and will enjoy the ICS treatment first.

Here’s the firmware build number info from Samsung server:

How to Update my Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 LTE and get this ICS upgrade?

This update probably will be only rolled out via OTA (Over the Air)  since this is a carrier specific firmware build. So, just check your Galaxy Tab settings and check for software update, also check it out on Kies too, or you may ask your friendly neighborhood customer support representatives on each specific network operator.

To those advance users who already modified their tablets with any unofficial firmware and or rooted and most probably can’t get this update via OTA or KIES. But here’s original ICS  stock ROM. Again, this is the official firmware, you will lose root, any installed custom recoveries after the installation, but you can still root it back again.

Note: these stock ROMs are not to be used on other Galaxy Tab 8.9 variants like P7300, P7310, P7320 and E140S . It may only compatible on U.S. SGH-I957. You will messed up your tablet if you’ll play around these firmwares, unless you are a custom firmware developer.
