When do we use the stock firmware?
When it happens that you try to perform a software update then gets an error message that says The operating system on your device has been modified in an unauthorized way. Try downloading software updates using Samsung Kies on your PC or visit a customer service center.
That simply means that the device could not get the software update anymore. So the best shot here is you need to remove the root image that has been installed in the device by flashing back the stock firmware itself.
Before you proceed prepare these necessary things as follows so you’ll not screwed-up your phone:
• Create a backup all your personal data, like Contacts, Messages, Applications, Pictures, and Videos, so that you will not lose it just in case something might go wrong after the update.

Extract/Unzip the download stock firmware
Extract the downloaded N910PVPU4DPC1 firmware or stock ROM. Use WinZip, 7zip, Winrar or any decompressing program you have had in your computer.
Run and Configure Odin Flasher
Run Odin3_v3.07 flasher program. In Odin window DO NOT tick the option box that says ‘Re-Partition’. Leave ‘Auto Reboot’ and ‘F.Reset Time’ check-marked by default.
Run and Configure Odin Flasher
Just click on the AP button then select and load the N910PVPU4DPC1 stock firmware.

Reboot the Galaxy Note 4 in Download Mode

Troubleshooting when firmware flashing failed
Does a factory reset after flashing is necessary when the device previously runs on any modified ROM and unofficial firmware images? This process is optional, but this method can get rid of the unwanted bootloop and lag issues after flashing. To do this;
Press and hold Volume Up+ Home+Power button, then select the Wipe Data/Factory Reset, to gain a fresh firmware installed.
If you use this for unrooting and restoring back from custom ROM but cannot get through the during the flashing and you get Odin failed error. You may just repeat the process but make sure to check everything from USB data cable, computer’s USB serial port, USB driver try the other Odin version. You may also sort out what root kernel and custom ROM and any modified system images you have previously used before as it also causes a flashing failure.
