United States users of T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S2 SGH-T989 gets another Android 4.0.4 Ice Sandwich Sandwich update. The latest build release is T989UVLI4 an update from earlier releases Android 4.0.4 with Baseband version T989UVLI1 or T989UVLH1. According to T-Mobile, this update will bring the Qualcomm fix, Security enhancements and Vlingo S Voice improvements.
In addition, U.S and Canadian users of the Samsung Galaxy S2 might not enjoy the Jelly Bean upgrade early this year. The international version of the Samsung Galaxy S2 GT-I9100 already started receiving the official Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean a day ago. That’s maybe because U.S and Canadian Galaxy S2 variant has key differences from the “International” version of the Galaxy S II GT-I9100.
The T-Mobile variant is SGH-T989 coded as “Hercules” it uses a 1.5 GHz dual-core Qualcomm APQ8060 (S3) Snapdragon processor, as opposed to the 1.2 GHz dual-core Exynos processor of the International version because the Exynos processor is not compatible with T-Mobile’s 42 Mbit/s HSPA+ network. The T-Mobile variant features four touch-capacitive buttons while the international version which has only three-button hardware/capacitive combination.
Well, what matters most as of this moment, an update is an update and this update is required to fix some issues to the device.
